Kurimoto Japanese Gardens/University of Alberta Botanic Gardens Wedding Photography / Diwan Wedding Reception Venue

I’ve been to the beautiful Uof A Botanic Garden many times over the years to photograph weddings, but Jessica and Chris’ big day was my first time photographing a wedding reception at the Diwan, the gorgeous venue located in the Aga Khan Garden. It was a picture perfect spring day - cherry blossoms, perfect weather, the smell of flowers on the breeze.

I photographed Jessica’s sisters’ wedding many years ago, and her family is incredible, so I knew we were in for some fun! These two have been together for a long time, and everyone was buzzing with excitement and anticipation for the big event.

After the ceremony, and a champagne toast, we buzzed around the garden taking photos, then headed to the Diwan to party the night away. The speeches were so touching, the flower girl was hilarious, and the dance floor was full of silliness and extra fun to photograph. To top it all off, it was such a gorgeous night (and such a beautiful sunset) and the party naturally spilled outside into the Aga Khan Gardens too. The Diwan is an amazing venue! I loved this day (and these people) so much!
