Bison Lodge wedding venue/ Edmonton Alberta
Clare and Kyla definitely know how to throw a party! Their wedding day - a warm spring afternoon at the amazing Bison Lodge, a historical Edmonton venue overlooking the river valley and downtown Edmonton - was so fun! Every moment was filled to the brim with great live music, excellent food, and queer joy.
Kyla and Clare began their day getting ready “together-ish” - on opposite ends of their cute Mill Creek house, which slowly filled with excited friends and family. The two brides had an emotional first look in their cute backyard, and of course included their adorable old man cat, who donned a very dapper little tuxedo for the big moment!
We headed out to meet family for some photos in Mill Creek Ravine, then the brides escaped the heat to grab a beer at Frank’s Community Pub, a fave neighborhood haunt. I really enjoy when folks choose somewhere special for their photos together - your wedding portraits don’t have to be at the same park everyone else goes to. Even if you want a few “traditional” photos in a green space or in front of a pretty backdrop, you can choose a spot where you love to spend time together. It will make your photos that much more meaningful. (And I love the “Inclusive Vibes Only” sign at the door of Franks!)
A friend officiated their heartfelt ceremony, followed by cocktails on the patio. Kyla and Clare have the most eclectic, diverse group of friends and family - so many rad outfits and hilarious people!
Although, in the words of Kyla, their wedding outfits had a lowkey “midsommar” theme, the wedding reception was all disco all the time - many of the guests changed into disco-y party outfits, and the incredible Timothy Noel & the Rear View Mirrors kept the dance floor full all night long. (Pro Tip - A live band is the ticket to keeping the party turned up to 11.)
I am so thrilled to have met these two and experienced their gorgeous wedding!
