Iceland in April

I love you, Iceland.

A US Army DC3 plan crashed in the 1950's on a deserted beach near Solheimsandur, Iceland. It's still there, a skeleton on the black sand beach, in the middle of nowhere.

These stacks of rock in the ocean near Vik are called Reynisdrangar.

A dog on the beach, trying to catch one of the birds that nest in the cliffs.

This surreal place is called Jokulsarlon. It's a glacial lagoon filled with thousands of icebergs.

I like horses.

Horses like me too.

I know the secret to making a pony smile. I'll tell you if you buy me a plane ticket to Reykjavik.

More to come.

Vikram and Maya - part 2

Here is the rest of Maya and Vikram's wedding in New Hope, PA! This is Maya's dad! I took this while we were doing lighting tests outside while Vikram and Maya changed into their outfits for the reception. You can see raindrops if you look really closely at his suit lapel! Okay, I love this photo. Look at how Maya's lengha sparkles in the sunshine!!!

Amazing reception decor - elephant themed! And the old school pop bottles suitied their retro venue perfectly!

Killer party! Awesome people! Amazing day! You can really tell how much fun everyone had (including us)!

Thanks to Vikram and Maya for trusting the powers of the internet and Skype (we never met in person until the wedding!) and for flying me across the country for this amazing experience! I wish you both every possible happiness together!

Vikram and Maya (part 1!)

Pennsylvania wedding photographer I feel like I'm especially lucky in that I get a to experience lot of destination weddings. And since my clients are so cool and different, they're always planning celebrations at the most unique spots, not just your standard tropical resort.

I love exploring quirky new places I've never been before, and Vikram and Maya's wedding was a dream in this regard! I traveled to New Hope, PA, an hour and a bit outside of NYC, to photograph their awesome Hindu wedding. Here are some favorites - a lot of 'em! I'll split this up into a couple of posts!

The evening before the wedding, the couple's families held a Maiyan ceremony. Lots of singing and dancing!

This next photo by Mathew is pretty crazy - a result of dragging the shutter and having more than one flash go off during the exposure. Really freaking neat! Pennsylvania wedding photographer Pennsylvania wedding photographer Pennsylvania wedding photographer

Vikram looks kinda intense here! Pennsylvania wedding photographer Pennsylvania wedding photographer

Then, the next day, the wedding!

While assembling this shot, the sun came out to catch the rings in the most perfect way!

It was kind of like that the whole day - perfect! It rained, but only for like ten minutes while the bride and groom were changing clothes. The rain cut the heat a little and made it more comfortable for everyone (and isn't rain on a wedding day said to be good luck?!)

Now for the wedding processional - the groom drives up to the ceremony in a white BMW (maybe a modern interpretation of the white horse, but less poo to clean up after!!) His family dances, sings and celebrates as they lead him to his bride!

Maya and Vikram are divided by a sheet at the end of the aisle so they can't see each other...

The sheet is lifted, at which point there's a little battle as to who gets to throw the garland around the other's neck first!!! (I'm not sure this is a tradition as such, but I see this garland battle at a lot of Hindu weddings, and it always makes for the cutest photos! I call it "The War of the Roses" - haha! Clever, clever, I know!)

A portrait of David in Iceland

As many of you return visitors know, I spent April in Iceland - possibly my favorite place on earth! I'm just beginning to edit through the photos and video I took there today, and I'm falling in love with that gorgeous country and its awesome people all over again! You can see some photos of my previous trip there in October 2010 here, and more photos here of my friends Shaun and Stephanie, who were honeymooning in Iceland!

Here's a photo of my friend David and his Hasselblad. I love this photo. David took 100 rolls of black and white film with him to Iceland - I really can't wait to see his photos!
