Lalita and Elliot's wedding

Q: "What can I do to make my wedding reception super-mega-crazy-awesome?"

We get this question, or variations thereof, fairly often. And I'm here today to announce that I can now answer this question:

A:"Find a friend who is willing to light himself on fire on the dance floor:"

hats aflame!

Q: "WOW! Thanks! That's a great idea! Any other tips?!"

A: "Try lifting a banquet table into the air, with people dancing on it! It's sure to be a hit with the crowd!"

table dance!

Okay, so I'm obviously having WAY too much fun, and I've completely deviated from my usual sequential recounting of the day's events. Lalita and Elliot's wedding was a total blast, from beginning to end. It was the first Jewish wedding I've photographed, and I'm now formally announcing that I love Jewish weddings, and I would like to photograph a bazillion more!

Here are some more photos!

I love these next 2 photos: reactions to how amazing Lalita looked that day!

Before the marriage, the groom and his witnesses meet to read and sign the Tenaim, a document outlining the commitment and promises between the bride's family and the groom's family.

After the Tenaim, Elliot goes to meet his bride, whom he hasn't seen for the entire week before the wedding. He pulls the veil over her face, in a ceremony called Badeken. The act of him veiling her symbolizes modesty, dignity and chastity.

Lalita looks so happy to see Elliot!

We took some photos with the wedding party on the wooded path that Lalita and Elliot walk down on Sabbath to go to temple.

Lalita was so great to work with - she has a warm, genuine smile that lights up her entire face.

Elliot's pretty cute too!

For the first part of the reception, the dancing was separated by a curtain: the groom and men on one side of the curtain, Lalita and the ladies on the other side. They did some pretty serious celebrating!

Chairs were lifted into the air as a prelude to the dinner table! Second shooter Mattie got this great photo of Elliot!

After the first hour or so, the curtain was opened and Lalita and Elliot had their first dance.

As you can see, it was an incredible day! Thanks to Lalita and Elliot, and their families and friends, for being so excellent to work with!
